Witnessing the profound, far-reaching impact of the inaugural Giants of Africa Festival in 2023, and recognizing the growing demand from youth across the continent for educational and life-changing opportunities, we knew we had to bring it back—this time, dreaming even bigger.

This summer, Giants of Africa will return to Kigali, Rwanda, uniting 320 young men and women from 20 African nations for a week of community, culture, basketball, education and entertainment. The festival will serve as a unifying force that ignites potential and catalyzes change across the continent.

Umuganda – Nationwide Day of Community Service

Giants of Africa is excited to participate in Umuganda–Rwanda’s nationally celebrated day of community service, held on the last Saturday of every month.

In partnership with Imbuto Foundation and the Ministry of Youth and Arts, festival campers and special guests will participate in meaningful service in a local community.

Women’s Empowerment Community Event

Giants of Africa is proud to host a Women’s Empowerment Community Event on the same day in all 20 African countries participating in the festival. The events will include leadership and education sessions held in local community spaces in all 20 countries, providing inspiration, knowledge, and practical resources to women and girls.

International Youth Day Forum

The Giants of Africa Festival International Youth Day Forum will bring together 2,000 Rwandan youth alongside festival campers for a day of engagement, education, and empowerment.

In partnership with Imbuto Foundation and the Ministry of Youth and Arts, the event will feature motivational and educational discussions with local and international speakers, as well as engaging life skills workshops.

Opening SHOW

Experience the Giants of Africa Festival Opening Show, where a parade of young athletes from 20 African nations come together with electrifying performances by international DJ sensation Uncle Waffles, and MTV Award-winning choreographer Sherrie Silver, whose live spectacle of dance and music featuring a special performance by Kevin Kade will mark the beginning of life-changing journeys for Africa's leaders of tomorrow.

Youth Basketball Camp & Tournament

Giants of Africa’s mandate is to use basketball as a tool to educate and empower youth. During the festival week, campers will train with NBA, WNBA, and community coaches to enhance their skills, improve their game and develop essential life skills. A round-robin tournament will determine which country teams will compete in the coveted Championship and All-Star Games.

New this year, the Giants of Africa Festival will be introducing a cultural fashion show highlighting the innovative talents shaping the future of African fashion. The event will be a vibrant showcase of culture and creativity, as three visionary African designers unveil their collections.

Championship & All-Star GameS

The Giants of Africa Festival youth basketball tournament will culminate with a boys and girls Championship Game & co-ed All-Star Game. It will be an evening of entertainment filled with athletic talent, half-time performances, special guests, and surprises.

Community Court Unveiling

As a part of Giants of Africa’s Built Within Initiative, three new basketball courts will be donated and unveiled at a local school in Kigali, demonstrating the foundation’s commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure and empowering communities.

Coaches Clinic

Giants of Africa will host a development clinic for 100 local Rwandan coaches, where they can advance their coaching skills and knowledge, and further develop the sport of basketball in Rwanda. They will learn directly from Giants of Africa’s team of NBA and WNBA coaches and personnel.

Closing Concert

The week-long festival will culminate in an epic closing concert, featuring electrifying performances by Kizz Daniel, Timaya, and Rwanda’s own The Ben. Get ready for an unforgettable night of music, energy, and celebration to close out a powerful week of unity and inspiration.
